Going on from what i said other day saying films aren't as great as they use to be.
What is people's top 5 films from the last 10years.

madmax

{Ed001's Note - damn only the last one counts from the Dark Knight trilogy. And that is the only one that I am dubious about so it will only be in if I can't come up with five others. Logan defo has to be in there, brilliant movie. Warrior was 2011 so that's three. Rogue One I would have to pick too, the best of all the Star Wars movies. The Raid, have to pick that and that was also 2011, love that film! Now I am stuck as there is John Wick, a bunch of Marvel movies, and I would have to say that I liked The Intouchables as well. Also I have to say, despite it really not being something I would have chosen to watch on my own, even though the writer is a big Liverpool fan, The Fault In Our Stars I took my daughter to see. In fact she made me take her a few times as she loved it so much and cried through it so missed most of it wiping away her tears. If that film doesn't move you, then you have no heart at all.}

1.) 29 Apr 2021 05:48:02
Mine are
The raid
Edge of tomorrow
The green book
Thor ragnarok
Brawl in cell block 99
Most of those I've picked because when finished watching they all felt quite original and made me want to watch them again.

2.) 29 Apr 2021 11:06:04
The Irishman.

What a great movie.

3.) 02 May 2021 10:39:59
If that 10 years includes this year, top of my list would be Pixar's Soul. For me, it is the best Pixar movie, and I would even personally rate it as one of the best movies I have ever watched, despite it being an animation film. A truly moving film.

4.) 02 May 2021 11:11:17
By the way Ed01, which one is the Liverpool fan? The writer of the book, or the screenwriters?

{Ed001's Note - the book. My daughter has read that, and all his books, many times. He is a priest or something, who works with terminally ill cancer patients I think.

It probably struck a chord with me as my best friend fought against various forms of cancer for about 10 years before finally succumbing and, at the time it came out, he had leukemia and it was just a matter of time for him as well.}

5.) 02 May 2021 12:37:19
Sorry to hear that Ed01.

As for the writer, I haven't watch Fault In Our Stars yet, but I have watched Paper Towns which I like a lot.

I watched Paper Towns basically because of its screenwriter. The first I watched was 500 Days of Summer, and looked up for his other works (Spectacular Now and Paper Towns) and I enjoyed all of them.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I would not know who wrote what in terms of screenwriters. It is not something I have even considered looking at.}

6.) 04 May 2021 15:42:51
Top five is really hard.
Joker
Predestination
Seven pounds
Dark night (Heath ledger one)
independance day

In no order and probably forgot loads. lol

{Ed001's Note - Dark Knight with Heath Ledger was over 10 years ago wasn't it?}

7.) 04 May 2021 21:34:48
Most of em was. Oops. Lol

{Ed001's Note - it's ok, most of the editors can't count either.}

8.) 06 May 2021 20:07:17
I forgot about joker.
Great film.

9.) 05 Jun 2021 16:57:18
Can’t believe I’ve only now found this area of the site!

Django Unchained (2012)
Sicario (2015)
Hell or High Water (2016)
Arrival (2016)
Baby Driver (2017)

Special shout-out for the Raid films too. Proper relentless action done right. The director is from a town about 10 mins away too

{Ed001's Note - do you really like Baby Driver? I watched it as far as the first driving sequence and it made the Fast and Tedious seem realistic and exciting, so I switched it off.}

10.) 05 Jun 2021 17:14:54
Honestly I did Ed! I think I was more surprised how much I enjoyed it. Loved the soundtrack and the action set pieces. Thought the main character played a good part and was a cool action hero. It was a brain dead action flick done right for me.

Should also have found a place for Jojo Rabbit. Absolutely loved that film and cried at least twice in it 😂

{Ed001's Note - wow, I didn't like the soundtrack to be honest, not my thing at all. I would agree on it being brain dead though.}

11.) 05 Jun 2021 17:41:36
Haha it is a film that didn’t take much thinking to be fair but not every film has to be the Seventh Seal to be worthwhile. Technically it was a brilliant shot film too lots of really impressive camera work with the driving sequences. Give it another whirl Ed you might enjoy it! If not and I’ve wasted an hour and half of your life I’ll send you my VHS of Teen Wolf everyone loves that film

{Ed001's Note - honestly mate, I couldn't watch that crap, the driving sequence was embarrassingly bad. Among the worst I have ever seen. It was the most ridiculous over the top stuff I think I have ever seen. I don't mind mindless trash, but it needs to at least engage me with some humour or something to overlook stuff like that. It is just not for me, it tries too hard to be cool and it is just not cool. Anything but cool.}

12.) 05 Jun 2021 17:56:37
Fair enough 😂 I would have included Prisoners too but didn’t want to fill it with Villeneuve films. Dredd would be another shout. Actually very difficult to just name five

{Ed001's Note - I have never heard of Prisoners. Dredd is a good shout, such a massive upgrade on the Sly Stallone attempt.}

13.) 05 Jun 2021 18:01:09
Actually I’ve just realised I’ve totally forgot Mad Max Fury Road! Criminal. Ok bump Baby Driver for Mad Max

{Ed001's Note - I am not that big a fan of that either, it's ok but not a patch on the original.}

14.) 05 Jun 2021 18:05:04
Absolutely loved Fury Road. Check out Prisoners Ed bit of a slow burn but some epic performances and stunning cinematography. I realise my opinion probably counts for little now but trust me haha

{Ed001's Note - there are a few slow burn Aussie movies I enjoyed that I think fit the time frame but I can't think of their names. Not much use I know!}

I'm Probably late to the party on this one but just watched venom
I thought it was utter garbage. Bad acting and a bad script/ story.

madmax

1.) 16 Jun 2019 22:14:57
I watched Venom with a friend, we both thought it was quite fun to watch. However I got really confused. I figured Venom was a villain, but in the movie he came across as a guy who was willing to at least try and be "good".

2.) 16 Jun 2019 22:18:04
You're not alone on that one, a superhero movie that belongs in 1990 even then it may be visually outmatched and isn't anywhere near blade. At least we got see she-venom I guess

12 Feb 2019 18:42:18
Just been to see the film 'green book.
Probably one of the best films I've seen in years. I would expand more, but just go see it if ya get the chance to. It's drama, serious, funny all rolled into 1. Great film.

Anyone looking forward to creed 2?. Have to admit been wanting to see Ivan drago in a rocky film for years.

madmax

{Ed001's Note - yes mate I am. I have free tickets for the cinema to use as well, might have to use them for that.}

1.) 30 Nov 2018 11:42:44
Being a boxing fan, I do kinda cringe at Boxing movies, the only exception is the Ali movie, where the Boxing actually looked like Boxing(for the most part).

2.) 01 Dec 2018 00:52:43
Not really a fan of boxing movies, but I really like Balboa and Southpaw. Haven't got a chance to watch Creed yet, but maybe I'll give it a try. Seems both 1 and 2 really like by the critics.

3.) 10 Dec 2018 09:26:46
Speaking of Dolph Lundgren over on the Liverpool page Ed, brought me here. Did you get to watch creed 2? I am wanting to because it looks quality but there's still no bloody stream online for it (not that I can find anyway) which surprises me, I wonder why that is.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen it yet. I have free tickets for the cinema (hence why I go so much as I always have a free ticket for paying my phone bill and saving the points you get) but just can't decide whether to use them for Creed or save them up for the child-friendly Deadpool 2.}

4.) 10 Dec 2018 10:29:09
Ah that's good Ed, I used to get free cinema tickets years ago, I think it was from the orange network but that must've been about 15 years ago now. If I were in your shoes it's be creed mate but I haven't seen any of the Deadpools.

5.) 10 Dec 2018 18:18:44
I get discounted tickets from work, you buy the ticket then book what you want to see at whatever chain and use the machine the foyer. I've got a couple left of the last lot I ordered. Tempted to do Creed just a case of finding the time to see it at this time of year.

6.) 12 Dec 2018 23:58:33
I literally JUST found a stream of it but its a CAM copy, bloody terrible lol can't watch them like that. That's half of my problem Mort is finding the time to get to the cinema and watch it!

Probably like most modern films and remakes. Just not very good.
The original wasn't great but it was fun.
Have to admit tho modern films just aren't nowere near as good as the 70s,80s and 90s.

madmax

{Ed001's Note - shame as I like Joe Taslim.}

Agree, brawl in cell block 99 is one of the best original films I've seen for a while.
Really want to watch dragged across concrete.
