Going on from what i said other day saying films aren't as great as they use to be.
What is people's top 5 films from the last 10years.

{Ed001's Note - damn only the last one counts from the Dark Knight trilogy. And that is the only one that I am dubious about so it will only be in if I can't come up with five others. Logan defo has to be in there, brilliant movie. Warrior was 2011 so that's three. Rogue One I would have to pick too, the best of all the Star Wars movies. The Raid, have to pick that and that was also 2011, love that film! Now I am stuck as there is John Wick, a bunch of Marvel movies, and I would have to say that I liked The Intouchables as well. Also I have to say, despite it really not being something I would have chosen to watch on my own, even though the writer is a big Liverpool fan, The Fault In Our Stars I took my daughter to see. In fact she made me take her a few times as she loved it so much and cried through it so missed most of it wiping away her tears. If that film doesn't move you, then you have no heart at all.}

Mine are
The raid
Edge of tomorrow
The green book
Thor ragnarok
Brawl in cell block 99
Most of those I've picked because when finished watching they all felt quite original and made me want to watch them again.

The Irishman.

What a great movie.

If that 10 years includes this year, top of my list would be Pixar's Soul. For me, it is the best Pixar movie, and I would even personally rate it as one of the best movies I have ever watched, despite it being an animation film. A truly moving film.

By the way Ed01, which one is the Liverpool fan? The writer of the book, or the screenwriters?

{Ed001's Note - the book. My daughter has read that, and all his books, many times. He is a priest or something, who works with terminally ill cancer patients I think.

It probably struck a chord with me as my best friend fought against various forms of cancer for about 10 years before finally succumbing and, at the time it came out, he had leukemia and it was just a matter of time for him as well.}

Sorry to hear that Ed01.

As for the writer, I haven't watch Fault In Our Stars yet, but I have watched Paper Towns which I like a lot.

I watched Paper Towns basically because of its screenwriter. The first I watched was 500 Days of Summer, and looked up for his other works (Spectacular Now and Paper Towns) and I enjoyed all of them.

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I would not know who wrote what in terms of screenwriters. It is not something I have even considered looking at.}

Top five is really hard.
Joker
Predestination
Seven pounds
Dark night (Heath ledger one)
independance day

In no order and probably forgot loads. lol

{Ed001's Note - Dark Knight with Heath Ledger was over 10 years ago wasn't it?}

Most of em was. Oops. Lol

{Ed001's Note - it's ok, most of the editors can't count either.}

Great film.

Can’t believe I’ve only now found this area of the site!

Django Unchained (2012)
Sicario (2015)
Hell or High Water (2016)
Arrival (2016)
Baby Driver (2017)

Special shout-out for the Raid films too. Proper relentless action done right. The director is from a town about 10 mins away too

{Ed001's Note - do you really like Baby Driver? I watched it as far as the first driving sequence and it made the Fast and Tedious seem realistic and exciting, so I switched it off.}

Honestly I did Ed! I think I was more surprised how much I enjoyed it. Loved the soundtrack and the action set pieces. Thought the main character played a good part and was a cool action hero. It was a brain dead action flick done right for me.

Should also have found a place for Jojo Rabbit. Absolutely loved that film and cried at least twice in it 😂

{Ed001's Note - wow, I didn't like the soundtrack to be honest, not my thing at all. I would agree on it being brain dead though.}

Haha it is a film that didn’t take much thinking to be fair but not every film has to be the Seventh Seal to be worthwhile. Technically it was a brilliant shot film too lots of really impressive camera work with the driving sequences. Give it another whirl Ed you might enjoy it! If not and I’ve wasted an hour and half of your life I’ll send you my VHS of Teen Wolf everyone loves that film

{Ed001's Note - honestly mate, I couldn't watch that crap, the driving sequence was embarrassingly bad. Among the worst I have ever seen. It was the most ridiculous over the top stuff I think I have ever seen. I don't mind mindless trash, but it needs to at least engage me with some humour or something to overlook stuff like that. It is just not for me, it tries too hard to be cool and it is just not cool. Anything but cool.}

Fair enough 😂 I would have included Prisoners too but didn’t want to fill it with Villeneuve films. Dredd would be another shout. Actually very difficult to just name five

{Ed001's Note - I have never heard of Prisoners. Dredd is a good shout, such a massive upgrade on the Sly Stallone attempt.}

Actually I’ve just realised I’ve totally forgot Mad Max Fury Road! Criminal. Ok bump Baby Driver for Mad Max

{Ed001's Note - I am not that big a fan of that either, it's ok but not a patch on the original.}

Absolutely loved Fury Road. Check out Prisoners Ed bit of a slow burn but some epic performances and stunning cinematography. I realise my opinion probably counts for little now but trust me haha

{Ed001's Note - there are a few slow burn Aussie movies I enjoyed that I think fit the time frame but I can't think of their names. Not much use I know!}
